First of all, I would like to thank all my dear customers who have taken part in purchasing my Charitable Handmade Soaps (CHMS). Some aren't aware that they have just purchased CHMS. Others intentionally purchase them because they want to help. Nevertheless, your contributions mean a lot, especially for the beneficiaries you chose. Thank you! Now, I would like to take some time to post about my beneficiaries and their respective vision. This post will let you will know more about them, yours truly, and why I choose to donate to these organizations. . ![]() LATCH (Lactation Attachment Training Counselling Help) LATCH was started by a group of breastfeeding mothers who are dedicated to offer support and services for mothers-to-be. They hold workshops and seminars to spread the word about the benefits of breastfeeding and give tips and strategies for successful breastfeeding. They also have a support group for mothers who have problems or concerns with nursing. I support LATCH because I believe that the more mothers and mothers-to-be know about breastfeeding, the more babies will be breastfed. It saddens me to know that there are a lot of mothers who give up on breastfeeding because of any of the following reasons: (1) their breasts are not "fit" for the practice, (2) they can't seem to produce enough milk during the first few days or during the first few weeks, (3) their babies won't latch, (4) they have to go back to work, or (6) they can't pump milk too well. If only these mothers had some or more information about breastfeeding, they might have been able to tackle their difficulties with nursing. I am hoping that, one of these days, LATCH will be able to lessen the lack of knowledge and address the misinformation a lot of mothers out there get about breastfeeding. Please view their credo from their "What's New" page. .
![]() PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society) This organization gets more and more people aware about animal cruelty happening in our country. They aim to prevent such from happening, encourage adoption of cats and dogs from the shelter, and educate people by promoting a society based on humane principles. I support PAWS because I am an animal-lover, particularly of dogs. I have heard so many stories about how these loving pets are treated with cruelty like they do not have feelings at all. I would like to help put a stop to the cruel treatment of animals. Years back, I was also able to witness a poor dog get hit by jeepney while it was crossing the street. Good thing, the dog survived but limped away to a side street accompanied by another dog. I cried after seeing what happened and was in total disbelief. How could people be so heartless? By helping PAWS with their cause, I know it will keep more stray animals away from the streets as well as let more people know that animals, too, have their rights as creatures like us and that they deserve to be treated humanely. .
![]() UNICEF Philippines Their focus is on the welfare of Filipino children, making sure that they obtain a bright future ahead by providing them safe, loving and caring communities to live in. They also provide support for women's health, especially pregnant women, in order to deliver healthy babies. I support UNICEF because our children are the future of the world. But given our country's situation, millions of children are deprived of proper rearing, health, and education. Most end up exposed to violence, bad influence, and abuse. Worse still, unfortunate one's end up on the streets. No child deserves to be under such circumstances. How can they be what we want them to be if they start out life improperly? Donating funds can help UNICEF give these children a better future. They deserve to live their lives how every child should. It is their right. .
![]() HARIBON Foundation (The newest addition to my list of beneficiaries) Save our environment! That is the focus of this organization, and a whole lot more. They are for the conservation of our natural resources and wildlife. We all know that the Philippines is rich in natural resources, but did you know that we have nine (9) ecosystems to preserve and take care of? Their logo "nine leaves on one tree" symbolizes all nine ecosystems. I support HARIBON because I would like to do my part in saving our environment. It REALLY needs all the help it can get. If every single Filipino will show even just a little effort in conserving Mother Nature, it will definitely have a major impact on the environment. And if you have watched CNN's Planet in Peril, you will wish that we did something for our environment a long time ago. Our planet is really in trouble. But we can start and focus on our own country. The name “Haribon” was coined from the words “haring ibon,” referring to the Philippine Eagle. The Philippine Eagle is the icon that signifies the importance of protecting biodiversity in the Philippine territory. Its presence is a constant reminder to the Filipinos to be continuously involved in taking care of our environment. Let's help keep our "Philippine Eagle" alive! . Please take time to visit the websites of all the organizations above. Learn more about them and their stated sets of vision. Let's do our part in making the Philippines a better country to live in.
