FOR HEALTH

Healthy Options Supplements

(posted January 27, 2010)

I've always believed in prevention and staying healthy -- eating right, drinking lots of water, sleeping early (though I don't do this a lot), and working out (I only get to occasionally).  But stress really has its way of creeping in just by being a mom and having your own business.  So I take supplements to help my body cope.  Those from Healthy Options seem to be good.  Of course, I still read the labels and ask a lot of questions when in doubt, but I think I've found those that suit me just fine.

Alternative and Homeopathic Remedies

(posted January 27, 2010)

I don't really resort to "fast-acting" and "instant-relief" medicines unless I'm risking getting my kids contaminated with what I have.  Whenever I start feeling the symptoms of getting sick, I immediately take my homeopathic remedies.  They don't work instantly, but they enable my body to heal itself, and that's how it's really supposed to be.  So far, so good.  My chronic problem (sore throat) or colds and cough get treated successfully without them getting worse, so I don't end up having to take conventional medicines at all!

Rubbermaid Chug Bottle - CONVENIENT PRODUCT!

I drink a lot of water and, as much as possible, I would rather bring my own drinking water rather than buy bottled water (to help save the environment, too).   I always bring my own water when I man my booth in bazaars, go workout (soon), go out of town or eat lunch in the car.  Sometimes I also do so when I go malling (weird, huh?).  Anyway, I was in constant search for the largest portable water container I could find.  I did buy one a few months ago but found out that the plastic used was not the safe kind, tsk, tsk.  So when I found the Rubbermaid Chug Bottle, I was so happy that I even got another one for my husband (for his weekly basketball exercise).  Well, its water capacity isn't really enough for me, but it's good enough in terms of safety and portability.

More to come...

Reviews on other products I've tried:

Caltrate Plus

Women need calcium, especially while breastfeeding.  But make sure you also get vitamin D to go with it.  It helps in the proper absorption of calcium.  You can get it from sunlight exposure, but I'd rather get it from supplements.  There was a time I tried taking calcium supplements alone (I was breastfeeding DL1 who was only a few months old then).  After a few days, I experienced pain in my joints, especially those in my fingers.  I thought my uric acid was high.  But after getting my blood tested, it wasn't the cause.  So I did some research and found out about the importance of partnering calcium with vitamin D.  Am I glad that Caltrate Plus has them both. .

Update: I've stopped taking this.  I've resorted to homeopathic and natural remedies/supplements.
